My intention is to capture a visual reaction and materialization of emotions. I paint intuitively in encaustic and oil.  I am inspired by landscape formation and the essence of light.  I explore sinuous fluid shapes and biomorphic motifs with cosmic and microscopic influences.  My compositions exceed the boundaries of their surface, as though they were close-ups.

My paintings represent a transformative journey.  Seemingly simple organic shapes are drawn through a vortex, divided and reconfigured into a familiar but wholly new form.  From a distance, we see that the process has a meaningful, although tumultuous flow.  Upon close inspection, the detail in the work reveals the complex nature of the journey.  Through the juxtaposition of translucent and opaque layers of color atop multi-textural grounds, and the addition of surprise embellishments, the effect is captured.
